Amsterdam dry dock.
1945 - 1946
Amsterdam dry dock. All floating docks having been sunk by the Germans, there is a busy time for the few dry docks that were dug in the land a long time ago. These docks are very large, so that often several ships can be repaired at the same time in one dock. The vessel shown is a Dutch transport, which was used as a convoy freighter at the time of the North African campaign, and suffered damages by near bomb misses. It is now being fitted out with new steel plates, and soon will be as good as new.
