First pictures of the Royal Air Force Coastal Command at work.
First pictures of the Royal Air Force Coastal Command at work. These pictures are the first of the Royal Air Force Coastal Command, whose four-engined 'Sunderland' flying-boats have completed 5,000,000 miles in their task of watching over British shipping since the war began. Not one ship has been lost in a convoy under their care whilst the Command have sighted and attacked over a hunderd U-boats. These pictures were taken during one of the coastal defence patrols by flying-boats attached to a West Coast station. Side-gunners of a flying-boat keeping ceaseless watch high above the sea. Sunderland Short S 25.
