German civilians on trial for murder of American Flyers. Peter Kohn, German civilian, is shown in his cell waiting for the opening of the second session of the war crimes court June 2, 1945, in Ahrweiler, Germany, where he is being tried for the murder of an American flyer. Two other Germans are being tried with him by a commission composed of eight military officers appointed by Lieutenant General Leonard T. Gerow, Commander of the 15th U.S. Army. He was beginning to show signs of weakening at the beginning of the session and broke down shortly after this picture was taken. The American flyer was unidentified.
