German soies shot in Belgium. U.S. military policemen tie Officer-Cader Guenther Billing, 21 to the stake in preparation for his execution as a spy. Billing and two other German soldiers were executed after a court-material by American authorities in Belgiu. They were captured in December, 1944, wearing Amercan uniforms, armed with American weapons, driving an American jeep in convoy. When stopped, they failed to give the password and admitted that their mission was to lacat and sabotage communications and reconnoitre bridges and roads over the Meuse. Especially trained for the job, all three had familiarized themselves wit Amercan habits and accent by mingling with American prisoners-of-war. This photo, taken in December, 1944, has just been released by the censors.
