Captured German Generals lead march of prisoners through Moscow.
Captured German Generals lead march of prisoners through Moscow. German generals captured by the Russian armies lead a march of 57,000 German prisoners through the Soviet capital of Moscow on July 17, 1944. Flanked by mounted Russian guards, the group of generals passed by the Belorussian station, while crowds look on. The German prisoners were trapped on the White Russian front by swiftly advancing Soviet forces. In the few weeks since the start of their great summer offensive in June along a 550-mile front from southern Poland to Larvia, Russian forces have wrested numerous strongholds from the Germans, and captured 100,000 enemy soldiers. This is a radophoto sent from Moscow to the U.S.
