U.S. tank calls Russian forces.
U.S. tank calls Russian forces. A loudspeaker-equipped M-5 tank of a Psychological Warfare Unit attached to the Second Armered Division, Ninth U.S. Army, calls to nearby Russian forces maneuvering at the town of Griebo, Germany, April 30, 1945, for a linkup with the Americans that later took place at Apollensdorf, two miles to the southeast and about 50 miles southwest of Berlin. The first official linkup of the two armies took place at Torgau on the Elbe River April 25, when units of the 69th Division, First U.S. Army, met units of the 58th Guards Division of the First Russian Ukrainian Army.
