U.S. Ambulance crosses main with Nazi prisoners. German prisoners-of-war flank a U.S. Army ambulance bearing wounded American soldiers as it move across the Main River, Germany, on a boat platform ferry. The prisoners were taken during bitter street fighting in Wurzburg, 65 miles east of the Rhine River. Troops of the 42nd Division, Seventh U.S. Army, forced an entry into the town April 2, 1945, after breaking down strong enemy resistance. It was annouced April 4 that seventh Army units had taken 61000 prisoners in the previous 18 daus of fighting.
