German paper under U.S. direction appears in Leipzig. Civilians of Leipzig, Germant, read copies of the "Hessische Post", new German language newspaper published and issued free under direction of the 12th U.S. Army Group. Leipzig, formerly one of the great industrial areas of the Reich and home of the annual prewar Leipzig Fair, was captured April 29, 1945, by troops of the First U.S. Army. It lies 80 miles southwest of Berlin.
