French armor paradies in liberated Strasbourg. A U.S. tank of the Second French Armered Division, which liberated the Alsation cathedral city of Strasbourg November 23, 1944, advances through milling crowds on the famous Place Kleber in a liberation parade hold in the city November 25, 1944, when General Philippe Jacques Leclerc, Commanding General of the Second French armered Division, reviewed his victerous troops. By December 10, 1944, the Second French Armered Division, which is attached to the Seventh U.S. Army, had joined with the First French Army, Commanded by General Joan de Lattre de Tassigny, which moved north after liberating the fortross of Belfort and the Alsatian city of Mulhouse.
