1944
U.S. hospital unit helps young Germans. Three members of a U.S. field hospital are about to operate on this nineteen-year-old German prisoner on the Normandy front. The prisoner had two gunshor wounds and a fractured leg. One of the gunshots had punctured his intestines and bladder, necessitating an immediate surgical operation to save his life. Doctors, medical orderlies, and a nurse worked under shellfire and successfully performed the operation. The prisoner was wounded in his first campaign.
