Allied prisoners freed from German camp by Soviet troops.
Allied prisoners freed from German camp by Soviet troops. American and Britans who were formerly held by the Germans in a prison camp near Poznan, Poland, hold their countries' flag aloft after Red Army troops liberated them from imprisonement. They crowded into the barbed-wire enclosure because they wanted to have their picture taken through the fence behind which they spent several years. The soviet government is setting up repatriation caamps for the Allied fighting men freed from German camps in the wake of the Red Army's advance. At the beginning of March, 1945, about 1, 000 Americans and 2,500 British former prisoners arrived at a Russian repatriation camp at Odessa from Poland and East Prussia. They were to be sent to their homes from the Black Sea Port.
