Repatriated French prisoners of war at Le Havre. Repatriated French prisoners of war Crowd upto the rails of the Norwegian freighter Kong Haakon VII as the ship ties up along the quays at Le Havre, France, September 9, 1945. More than 1,900 French soldiers, libretated from German prison camps in Norway by Allied troops who entered the country in May, 1945, arrived on the ship. As they disembarked, their compatriots cheered. The first repatriated French soldiers to arrive at Le Havre, they were given hot meals and cigarettes by the Red Cross before they boarded trains for their homes.
