U.S. troops visit Lourdes shrine. Hundreds of American soldiers and French civilians attend Mass outside the Basilica at Lourdes, world-famous religious shrine in France. The U.S. troops visiting Lourdes are on a special free tour made available to them by the French Government which provides transportation and hotel accomodations. The American Army supplies the food rations for the trip.
