New U.S. anti-aircraft gun. A crew of American gunners prepares to fire one of the U.S. Army's new 120-mm. anti-aircraft guns. Designed and developed by the Army Ordnance Department for use primarily against the highest flying enemy bombers, the gun can fire projectiles into the stratosphere 20,000 feet higher than any other known anti-aircraft piece in service. It can be quickly lowered for firing and lifted for travel from its mobile carriage by mens of hydraulic jacks of 15-ton capacity which are placed on each side of the gun's outriggers. Here, the weapon is shown in recoil after firing, its crew ready to reload.
