Prdocutie van een Boeing 'B-29 Superfortress'. Nacelles for engines of new U.S. superfortress. American aircraft workers check off completed nacelles for then2,200-horsepower engines of the new U.S. B-29 Superfortress. The nacelles, which house the powerful engines of the four-motored bomber, are ready for shipment from one of the many U.S. aircraft plants taking part in the production of the new B-29 whose active participation in aerial warfare was announced on June 15, 1944, when a task force of Superfortresses flew from newly completed bases in China and raided a big steel plant in Japan. Six major U.S. aircraft factories are engaged in mass production of the plane, mightiest and swiftest of alle Allied bombers, while hundred of subcontractors are building B-29 parts. The U.S. War Department disclosed that the production program for the bomber involves virtually every manufacturing center of America.
