Stars and Stripes, G.I. Morale Booster No. 1. The newsroom of Stars and Stripesin London. Apart from the uniforms worn by the journalists, the editorial room had the same appearance and air as the newsroom of any daily newspaper. Here 15 writers and editors handle almost as much news in one day as does the staff of a metropolitan daily - and in a room roughly the size of the office of the managing editor of a metropolitan daily. The staff works from noon to nearly midnight with the deadline set for 9 P.M. Replates for late-breaking news may keep the staff on well after midnight; during the last months of the European campaign, there were up to three replates daily.
