U.S. soldiers of Japanese descent in Italy. Soldiers of the U.S. Army infantry battalion composed for Americans of Japanese origin march across a bridge on their way to the front lines in Italy (September 1943). The battalion which was recruited in Hawaii, took part in a four-day battle at Benevento, and some of its members rescued a party of American parachutists who had been isolated behind the German lines for two weeks.
