American Military Government in Germany. As Lieutenant Colonel Caeser Fiore of Montclair, New Jersey, member of the Ninth Armored Division, occupying force in Bayreuth, looks on. Private Irving Burskey of Cleveland, Ohio, plays the grand piano in the home formerly occupied by Richard Wagner's daughter-in-law, Winifred Wagner. Adjacent to the one-time redisence of the famous composer, the building is being used as a U.S. Army officer's club. All historical structures are being preserved by the Fine Arts and Monuments Officer of the Military Government detachment. It is the purpose of Military Government officials to take treasures to facilitate the eventual restitution of works of art and objects of scientific or historical importance which may have been damaged or displaced during the course of the war. Armed auxiliary police have been posted to prevent damage to all structures, objects or documents of cultural, artistic, archeological or historical value.
