Experts say disarmament would bring better life for all (part III). The United States View: Disarmament helpful to economy and peace. Disarmament would be "an unqualified blessing to all mankind", in the unanimous opinion of a United Nations Consultative Group of economists from 10 nations, who made an exhaustive study of the economic and social consequences of disarmament at the request of the U.N. General Assembly. The United States fully supports the Consultative Group's conclusions. Americans have always been glad to disarm and go back to peacetime pursuits. These are some of the 15,000 men who came back on each trip of the British liner Queen Elizabeth after World War II. More than 9,000,000 men were released from the armed forces in one year, and virtually all of them immediately found productive employment.
