Sovjet Cavalry in Lublin. Red Army cavalry troops prepare to march in the Lublin area in Poland in the great advance which the Soviet troops are making through Poland to attack German industrial districts in Silesia. Red Army troops floded into Poland across the upper Bug River July 23, 1944, and hours later reached the rail and highway center of Lublin, commanding the Polish plain leading to Warsaw, a hundred miles northwest.
