Russian mechanics salvage U.S. fighter. A P-51 Mustang forced down in Russia after escorting heavy bombers across targets in German-occupied Europe is salvaged by Russian mechanics trained in their own schools by U.S. troops operating bases of the Eastern Command, U.S. Strategic and Tactical Air Forces. Establishment of U.S. bases on Soviet territory, which arose from the decisions of the Moscow and Teheran Conferences, increases the scope of shuttle bombing of Nazi Europe. Areas which have been practically outside the range of Allied bombers in Italy, North Africa and Britain can now be struck with full loads of bombs, including the places to which the Germans evacuated many of their industries and plants.
