Een bezoeker van de Beeldbank schrijft uit Spanje: ''During Spanish Civil War of 1936-39, 21st january 1938 at 11:45 AM seventeen planes type Tupolev SB-2 of republican air force bombed Salamanca. Was the first bombing of four attacks against the most significative cities of Franco's zone in reprisal due the bombings of Italian and German air forces over Loyalist cities. Twelve people dead in this air raid and forty more were injured. A unknown number of bombs between fifteen and twenty-four were launched. The picture was taken at Padre Cámara Street, where three people were killed by the bomb that exploded in this point. Two days later other raid over Sevilla killed 11 people, and day 25th of january, a third one over Valladolid killed 14 people and injured 70 more. Fourth raid was made over Salamanca again day 28, but anti-aircraft guns won this time getting avoid the attack and no bombs fell over the city; three children were injured, one seriously, due a explosion of a bomb in the near village of Aldeatejada.''
