An Allied officer examines the wreckage of German planes, piled near the edge of an airfield in Italy where the were smashed on the ground by Allied bombs. Back of them is a squadron of British Royal Air Force spitfire fighter planes, which now uses the field to support the Allied forces advancing against the Germans in the campaign of liberation on the Italien mainland.
