U.S. troops train for Pacific action. U.S. troops at a replacement center in Hawaii for a stream while using improvised rafts for their clothing, rifles and other equipment. Practical training for action against the Japanese is given in the program, which includes 44 hours of training per week with lectures, group discussions, orientation courses and movies furnishing the background for the course. Emphasis is placed on teamwork and amphibious assault and on measures for combatting diseases and unsanitary conditions often found in the Pacific area. The over-all training program is designed to insure that every U.S. soldier goes into battle fully prepared to deal with the enemy in the face of shelling, bombing, sniping, heat, cold and unsanitary living conditions.
