Presentation of the Dickin Medal (Animal's V.C.) to "G.I. Joe", at the Tower of London. Wing Commander W.D. Lea Rayner and Major General Clayton Bissell, military and air attache at the United States Embassy, who represented the United Sates War Department at the ceremony. Wing Commander W.D. Lea Rayner is Head of the Air Ministry Pigeon Service. "G.I. Joe" is a US Army pigeon, and this the first time the Dickin Medal has been awarded to an animal or bird other than British. "G.I. Joe" is credited with making the most outstanding flight made in WWII.
