Russian officers visit Normandy Front. During a tour of the Allied campaign in Normandy July 13, 1944, two Soviet officers visit advanced headquarters of the Ninth U.S. Air Force. Left to right are: Major General A.R. Sharapov of the Red Air Force, Lieutenant George Grant of New York City interpreter; Major General E.R. Quesoda, Commanding General of the Ninth U.S. Air Force fighter command and Lieutenant Colonel Stepan Stemasov of the Soviet Signal Corps. The Russian officers attended a war meeting in the headquarters of Lieutenant General Omar N. Bradley, Commanding General of the First U.S. Army in France; inspected landing beaches and visited the front line airfields of the Ninth U.S. Air Force.
