General de Gaulle decorates French soldiers. General Charles de Gaulle, President of the French Provisional Government, is shown as he presents decorations to soldiers of the Second French Armored Division at Landsberg, Germany, May 19, 1945. General de Gaulle visited the division to make the presentations and to promote General Jacques Philippe LeClerc to the rank of Corps Commander in the French Army. He was greeted by Lieutenant General Alexander M. Patch, Jr., Commander of the Seventh U.S. Army, and Major General Edward H. Brooks, Commander of the Sixth Corps, Seventh U.S. Army.
