Nazi Bavarian Gauleiter exhumed for investigation. A cemetery attendant starts to open the grave of Nazi Bavarian Gauleiter Paul Giesler, June 6,1945 at Berchtesgaden, Germany, for investigation by officials of the Seventh U.S. Army. Giessler was brought to the Reserve Lazarett Military Hospital May 3, suffering from poisoning which was allegedly self-administered. He recovered, and was removed the following day with severe head wounds which caused his death. He was buried in an unmarked grave May 8. His wife was found a few days later after his death, dead from bullet wounds.
