Ex-internees from middle Java reach safety in Batavia.
Ex-internees from middle Java reach safety in Batavia. On June 9, 1946, the Royal Air Force transport Command brought more internees from Djocjakarta and Middle Java to Batavia, where they will be nursed back to health and strength. These people were held in internment camps throughout the war, and have been detained there by the T.R.I. troops since the japanese surrender, living in squalor under awful conditions. One of the innocent victims of war and "peace" this 81 years old woman is carried to a waiting ambulance at Kemajaoran Aerodrome. Soon she will be given all the care and attention possible in the Volksraad hospital in Batavia. NI 934
