Item is a fraudulent temporary identification paper held by Duifje van Haren under the name of a non-Jewish acquaintance, Theodora de Graaf. Temporary identification papers with no photographs were granted to those who lost their papers when the city was bombed, making it easier for Duifje to use a non-Jewish persona and avoid the large J printed on Jewish papers. Duifje extended the paper’s validity a couple of times after it was received.
