Bequest Georg Bürger
Georg Bürger was born in 1926 and studied law at Frankfurt University. Following his studies, he worked as an attorney and notary and had his own law firm in the east of Frankfurt (Main). He was the assigned counsel to the defendant Bruno Schlage during the "proceedings against Mulka and others (4 Ks 2/63)" ("Verfahren gegen Mulka u.a. (4 Ks 2/63)"), the First Frankfurt Auschwitz trial. At the same time, he was in close contact with Hermann Langbein, a representative of the Comité International des Camps and worked towards receiving compensation payments for forced laborers. His bequest first and foremostly consists of documents originating from that context which regard requests for compensation payments. The bequest Georg Bürger covers after description, demetallization and filing 23 archival units with a total extent of 1 running meter. During indexing from January to November 2021, the processors Johannes Beermann-Schön and Sophia Steinmetz completely reorganized the collection. The archives group is now structured in three sections: "compensation of forced laborers" ("Zwangsarbeiterentschädigung"), "working library" ("Arbeitsbibliothek") and "Degesch trial" ("Degesch-Prozess"). The section "compensation of forced laborers" ("Zwangsarbeiterentschädigung") mainly contains correspondence with former forced laborers, as well as with the Comité International des Camps in preparation of a lawsuit regarding compensation payments. The section "working library" ("Arbeitsbibliothek") comprises publications concerning various legal matters, as well as publications from organizations of victims of persecution. The section "Degesch trial" ("Degesch-Prozess") encompasses documents regarding the Degesch trial that was held against Gerhard Peters and others in 1949, concerning the manufacturing of Zyklon B by the Degesch
