Paul Fraser collection

Paul Frazer, formerly Fehl, (1924-2001) was born in Vienna and came to Great Britain on the Kindertransport in 1938. His parents were Moritz and Franziska Fehl, who died in the Holocaust. He was adopted by the grandmother of the donors, Johanna Goldstein née Wolff (1898-1988), a Jewish family also from Schneidemuhl, Germany, whose son, Hans Goldstein, had befriended him. The two boys went to Ashburton Boarding School in Devon, which took in about a dozen refugee children. Paul was interned at the outbreak of war and sent to Australia on the infamous ship 'Dunera'. On return to Great Britain, like many refugees, he joined the Pioneer Corps of the British army and was stationed amongst other places in Kenya. He married another Austrian Jewish refugee, Anitta Schiller (1925-2004), who had also lost all her family in the Holocaust. She had attended Cockley Cley school in Norfolk. The couple had no children but were always regarded as part of the Goldstein family. Paul trained to be an accountant specialising in show business clients. Anitta ran her own pay roll company. Paul Eisler was a cousin of Paul Fehl from Vienna. Open
