Papers of Dr Adolf Bchler

Adolf Bchler (1867-1939) was born in Priekopa, Hungary. He studied at Budapest, Breslau and Leipzig, obtaining a doctorate in philosophy in the last for a study on Hebrew accents. Bchler moved to England and worked for some time under his uncle, Adolf Neubauer, of the Bodleian Library. He then moved to the newly formed rabbinic seminary at Vienna before returning to England, to Jews' College, London, in 1906. Other papers including a report of the London Jewish Hospital Ladies Aid Association, 1930-1, a report of the Union of Jewish Women, 1931, and minutes of the Jewish Unity Group, 1942; newspaper articles and photographs, including a series of photographs of a dairy shop and milk transportation in Prague, 1946.
