Bayard L. Cabe papers
Bayard L. Cabe (1925-1977) was born in Darrington, WA and served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945 in Normandy, Northern France, the Ardennes, the Rhineland, and Central Europe. In April 1945 he visited the recently liberated Buchenwald concentration camp. The Bayard L. Cabe papers consists of a letter written by Bayard L. Cabe, a member of the 6th Armored Division, on 23 April 1945, regarding the liberation of Buchenwald. In the letter, he describes the tour he took with English-speaking former prisoners and summarizes their experiences. The letter is missing the final page(s). The papers also include photocopies of military records and photographs from his service.
