Le Havre celebrates liberation. Colonel Thomas J. Weed, U.S. Army Commanding Officer of the Le Havre port of embarkation, places a floral wreath at the foot of the monument to the last war, Sept. 12, 1945, as the city celebrated the first anniversary of its liberation by Canadian troops. French, Canadian and U.S. troops participated in the ceremonies.
