Nuremburg today.
Nuremburg today. This is an aerial view of Nuremburg, Germany, shrine city of the Nazi Party and scene of many of the pageants and festivities of the Third Reich, as it is today after poundings by the Eight U.S. Air Force and the RAF. The Eighth attacked the marshalling yard, the electrical plant, the M.A.N. (Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nuremburg) Work, the gas works and other industrial installations in a single operation April 5, 1945. Nuremburg, a 600 year-old city, was the target for 10 bombing operations by the Eight and the RAF during which more than 22,009,800 pounds of high explosives were dropped. It was taken by ground troops of the Seventh U.S. Army April 20, 1945.
