Belgian arms plant operates for Allies. Belgian craftsmen alter German plans to Belgian and U.S. Army specifications in Fabrique Nationale in Herstal Lez Liege, one of the largest arms, munitions and vehicle factories in Belgium. Production on U.S. Government contracts started after the plant had been abandoned by the Germans. For four years, the Belgian directors and employes refused to work for the Germans and machines and technicians had to be imported from the Reich to operate the plant. This photo, taken October 23, 1944, was released by censors April 10, 1945.
