U.S. Soldiers Go Sightseeing in Paris - Five U.S. soldiers stop their jeep at the base of the Eiffel Tower in Paris to gaze up at the famous structure the day after the city was liberated by Allied soldiers in August, 1944. Long one of the most famous landmarks in the city, the 984-foot (295-meter) high tower has always attracted visitors and the Allied troops thronging into Paris after its liberation were no exception.
