On July 7 1944, U.S. Rear Admiral Dewitt C. Ramsey said that the U.S. will have more then 100 carriers in commision in the Pacific theater alone by the end off 1944. These are in addition to the many Allied carriers based in other theaters which will be concentrated against Japan following the imminent defeat of Germany.
