General Eisenhower inspects new Allied Airborne Army. General Dwight D. Eisenhower, Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force, reviews Allied Airborne troops from a half track "somewhere in England". General Eisenhower announced at this review, that a new army had been formed; combining all British and U.S. Airborne forces, the first of its kind in history. Lieutenant General Lewis H. Brereton, former head of the Ninth U.S. Air Force, is in command with Lieutenant General Frederick A.M. Browning of the British Army as his disputy. Formation of the new army will integrate and make more effective the large airborne forces now at the disposal of the Supreme Allied Command.
