Louise S. testimony 1984
Louise S. was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands in 1929. She recalls her large extended family. She describes her family moving to Amsterdam in 1942 due to raids and increased anti-Jewish restrictions. She recalls hiding during raids and her parents hiding their valuables. Louise describes being placed in hiding with a non-Jewish relative in Hilversum. She recalls being transferred to a different location and visiting her parents. She describes re-joining her parents who were also in hiding and obtaining false identification papers from the Dutch resistance. She describes moving to Apeldoorn and staying in hiding in the same room for nearly twenty months. Louise describes liberation by Canadian troops and how her sister was reunited with the family. She recalls her marriage to a Canadian and their emigration to Canada in 1959. Louise discusses her life inner life in hiding. She discusses her regard for the Dutch resistance who helped her family. She discusses sharing her experiences with her sons. She shows documents.
