Das Schwarzbuch : der Genozid an den sowjetischen Juden
An expanded translation of the original Russian text of the "Black Book", based on the proofs prepared in 1947 and suppressed, and on the original typescript (preserved in the archives of the Soviet secret service) which contains passages never before published. Much of the text, as well as articles by Yitzhak Arad (p. 1015-1062) and Ilya Altman (p. 1063-1084) on the Holocaust in the Soviet Union and the fate of the "Black Book", also appeared in the later Russian edition (Vilnius: Yad, 1993). The article by Arno Lustiger, "Die Geschichte des J|dischen Antifaschistischen Komitees der Sowjetunion" (p. 1093-1098), describes the work of the Committee and its tragic fate. Shmuel Krakowski, "Unver̲ffentlichte Materialien f|r das 'Schwarzbuch'" (p. 1085-1092), describes the Committee's extensive archives preserved in the State Archives of the Russian Federation. These include 6300 pages of documents and correspondence for the "Black Book". Additional documents were hidden by Ehrenburg and smuggled by his daughter to Yad Vashem. Translation of: Черная книга. 1148 pages ; 24 cm
