Rosine De Dijn research archive. Collection

She graduated in communication science after which she worked as a freelance journalist for the Belgian broadcasting network and for various Flemish newspapers and magazines. In 1966 she moved to Germany, where, until 1970, she worked as a scriptwriter and program maker for the Saarland broadcasting company in the Saarbrücken area. She then moved to the Cologne area, where she combined her job as a correspondent and a television producer for the Flemish broadcasting network, with her assignment with the Dutch editorial board of Deutschlandfunk and her work for Flemish newspapers and magazines. Until 1987, Rosine De Dijn managed ‘Kijk op Duitsland’, the Dutch-language editions of the German Federal Press Bureau. Rosine De Dijn wrote numerous contributions and reports on Belgium for German newspapers and magazines, including on the Jewish community in Antwerp, in addition to contributions on culture, tourism and architecture. She published acclaimed books, on both the Second World War and on other historical topics. In her work she combines general history with the stories of known and unknown individuals. This collection contains the research files and 172 books accumulated by Rosine De Dijn in preparation of six books on various topics related to the Second World War. The research files for ‘De vlucht van Yudka Kalman, 1941-1950’ (KD_00633_01) include five sets of photographic materials, copies concerning the German Landsmannschafte in Donau-Schwaben and across Europe, and files on Carpathian Ukraine, on researched persons and on Belgium's refugee policy. The research files for ‘Zeg Nooit Dat Je Rachmil Heet. Een Joodse Jongen Overleeft De Oorlog In Een Vlaams Gezin’ (KD_00633_02) include production chronicles, and research files on persons and specific locations. The research files for ‘Het schip van de laatste kans. Nazi’s en Joden op de SS Serpa Pinto. Rio de Janeiro – Lissabon – New York 1942’ (KD_00633_03) include general files on German emigration and national socialism in Latin America, and files on the ship and its Jewish and Nazi passengers. The research files for ‘Gasten van de Führer. De vlucht van Vlaamse collaborateurs naar nazi-Duitsland tijdens de bevrijding in september 1944’ (KD_00633_04) include general files on collaboration and national socialism, research files on the flight from Flanders by collaborators, their placement and the children’s battalions, files on specific persons and personal archival items such as correspondence, diaries, a photo album and testimonies from individuals such as Jet Jorssen. The research files for ‘Einstein en Elisabeth. De ongewone vriendschap tussen een ongewone geleerde en een ongewone koningin van België’ (KD_00633_05) include copies of letters from Albert Einstein and Queen Elisabeth and publications and documentation on both. The research files for ‘Overleven na de Holocaust. Hoe het „Jeruzalem aan de Schelde“ herleefde en het Grand Hôtel in Knokke het eerste naoorlogse vakantieoord werd’ (KD_00633_06) include copies of documentation on Knokke-Heist and research files on Motke Weinberger, his associates and a few of his Jewish guests.
