The District Governor's Office in Jičín was established as the first-instance office of the political administration in 1850. In 1855, a mixed district office (judicial and political administration) was established in Jičín. After its abolition in 1868, the district governor's office was re-established in Jičín. In 1918, the office was renamed the political district administration, headed by district governors. Based on that, in 1928, the Jičín District Office became the political office with general powers of the first instance. In May 1945, a district national committee was established in Jičín.
