During the 15th century, there was a town council with a mayor and municipal elders. Despite all efforts, a regulated municipality office was not established in the town in the 18th century. The municipal office was not established until 1850. At that time, a district court and a tax office were also established there. The first-instance state administration was performed from Pelhřimov. The organized Jewish community is documented there only in the 19th century. The Jewish cemetery was founded in 1803 and was used until World War II.
