Českomoravská zemědělská společnost, Praha

The Czecho-Moravian Agricultural Company was a subsidiary of the German Settlement Company in Berlin and held the same significance in the Protectorate as the branches of that company in the Sudetenland. Together with the records of the Land Office for Bohemia and Moravia, its files document the forced seizure of agricultural properties and the resettlement of entire areas inhabited by Czechs, which were then occupied by German settlers. The confiscated properties originally belonged to Czech as well as Jewish residents. The Czecho-Moravian Agricultural Company was established on April 24, 1942, as a joint-stock company and a branch of the German Settlement Company in Berlin (Deutsche Ansiedlungsgesellschaft Berlin). Its task was to prepare farmsteads and other properties confiscated from the Czech and Jewish population for new German settlers. Operationally, it was subordinate to the Land Office for Bohemia and Moravia. The company’s headquarters were divided into four main departments: Agricultural, Settlement, Construction, and Personnel and Administration. The most important was the Settlement Department, which had four branches: Prague-North, Brno, Olomouc, and České Budějovice. Individual branches oversaw construction administrations and agricultural offices. The Czecho-Moravian Agricultural Company ceased its activities in May 1945. In July 1945, a national administration was appointed over its property to carry out liquidation. In September 1948, the joint national administration of all former German settlement companies in Czechoslovakia functioned as a body of the Fund for National Restoration.
