First, a branch of the District National Committee of Písek was established in Vodňany, and then in 1949, the District National Committee of Vodňany. It ceased to exist on June 30, 1960 due to a territorial re-organization. The fonds contains documents of the district people's administration and delegated state administration: official books, files, and accounting material. It documents the economic, political, social and cultural conditions of the former district of Vodňany.
