Collection Lagergemeinschaft Auschwitz - Freundeskreis der Auschwitzer e.V.

Werner Renz, the former archivist of the Fritz Bauer Institute transferred the collection "Lagergemeinschaft Auschwitz — Freundeskreis der Auschwitzer e. V." (Camp Community Auschwitz — friends of the Auschwitzers e. V.) to the Institute in February 2018. Werner Renz was an active member of the camp community from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s. The collection Lagergemeinschaft Auschwitz — Freundeskreis der Auschwitzer e. V. covers after description, demetallization, and filing three archival units with a total extent of 0.25 running meters. It provides an insight into the internal conflicts within the association, the attempt to establish a "Foundation Auschwitz e. V." and its distinction from the association and the Fritz Bauer Institute as well.
