Personal papers pertaining to the imprisonment of Moritz Steinhäuser in Buchenwald concentration camp, the preparation of his emigration, and his life as refugee in Shanghai. Arrested as a so called 'race defiler', the Jewish clerk Moritz Steinhäuser (born on 13 October 1907 in Oberlauringen) from Fürth was imprisoned in the concentration camps Dachau and Buchenwald from 1935 to 1939. He was released under the condition that he would emigrate. Steinhäuser survived the war as a refugee in Shanghai. Open
