The collection is important for the study of the state policy/politics of the Kingdom of Italy in the area of Rijeka (Kvarner province) from 1941 to 1945 and the neighboring areas annexed beginning of World War II . Most of it consists of cabinet and general files whose content is similar , with the cabinet records documenting more political , administrative and general and administrative jurisdiction of the creator. Cabinet and general files are archived from 1924 to 1945 according to three classification systems , and the names of their individual components best reflect the content of the collection . Well preserved is also a smaller number of confidential material. The collection consists of: writings from the scope of individual ministries ( Interior, Foreign Affairs , National Economy , Finance , War , Education and Public Education , Public Works , Navy , Transport , colonies , corporations , agriculture and forests , justice and worship ); files related to the Italian royals and other rulers and dignitaries ; writings about aviation, public charity , non-political organizations , political writings , documents relating to the maintenance of public order and peace , police records , remittances, petitions and appeals , accounting records , prefect's personal mail , files of the Fascist party , popular culture clips and more. In addition to the above among the general writings are personal correspondance of the employees of the Prefecture , records of direct taxes and fees , records regarding land registry, mail , telegraph , telephone , lotteries and turnpikes ; administrative proceedings ; statistics ; writings in relation to the general supply for the population and onomastics , the general census of population, health , voluntary militia national Security ( milizia volontario Sicurezza Nazionale ), prison authorities and records of the provincial and municipal administration. Furthermore, police and military reports on activities against the Italian state are singled out , as well as documents whose content relates to special operations within the municipality Rijeka province (Pula , Illyrian Bistrica , Klan , Jablanica, Jelsa , Knežak, Lovran , Materija , Matulji, Mošćenica, Podgrada, Prema, Ratečeva Brda, Rijeka, Smrje, Trnova pri Ilirskoj Bistrici, Veprinac, Volosko-Opatija i Zagorje). The collection contains a number of selected files and administrative bodies of the prefecture, namely: Office of the Economic Police , the General Secretariat for Civil Affairs of the annexed areas, General Secretariat for the Economic Affairs of the Annexed areas, Civil Administration of the annexed areas , the General Commissions to promote the annexed areas , the Special Secretariat for the annexed regions, Military Office in annexed areas , the Emergancy-conditions Commissions for areas of Sušak and Krk , Provincial Committee for anti-aircraft protection and the Provincial Office for assistance to refugees and to protect the interests of affected provinces . A separate series of files contains the reports of the rebels' (partizans) actions during the war and the fight against them . To the latter documents are attached the original documents by the Commission for Investigation of War Crimes from 1947 . Registry books and a table of contents for the general files; registry book and table of contents for the confidential files cabinet; card index of the cabinet and general records; records of correspondence with the Supreme Command of Slovenia and Dalmatia ( Supersloda); records of the Special Secretariat for the annexed lands; table of contents for religious matters; table for the writings of municipalities; registers and table of content for laws on local regulations; index of citizenship status issues. Available in accordance with the Law on Archives and Archival Material (Official Gazette 105/1997), the Regulations on the use of archival material (OG 67/1999) and the Rules of Procedure of the State Library Archives in Rijeka. Personnel files are fully available to the public after seventy years of creation of the material, that is, one hundred years since the birth of individuals. USHMM (tbc throughout 2014)
